About the webinar

Supporting a child through emotional or mental health difficulties can leave parents wondering what to say, what to do and whether they’re getting it right.

In this session, we’ll talk to counsellors Amy and Julia about some of the challenges families commonly face, including children refusing to go to school – also known as emotionally based school avoidance – and problems with sleep. Our specialists will share practical approaches to help you understand what may be going on for your child, respond to their needs and feel better equipped to support them.

The webinar is relevant to parents of both neurotypical and neurodivergent children, and you’ll also have the opportunity to put your own questions to our panel live.

Our expert panellists from our partners at The Exchange – part of Health Is One:

  • Amy O’Hare is a qualified counsellor, sleep coach and CPCAB-approved trainer with particular expertise in children’s wellbeing, neurodiversity and neurodivergent sleep.

  • Julia Middeke is an assistant psychologist and counsellor with experience supporting children, adults and families. As part of a multidisciplinary team, she leads on psychological assessments, including autism and ADHD assessments.

Remember, if you need support with your child’s mental health, you can also speak to our helpline team on 0800 0234 834, Monday–Friday, 9am–5 pm.
