Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving is a simple way to support the banking community while making your donation go further.

Why choose Payroll Giving?

  • Donations are made automatically each payday, making it easy to give regularly
  • You can change or stop your donation at any time
  • You can make additional one-off donations, for example after a bonus or at the end of the tax year
  • No need to claim Gift Aid or complete paperwork

Your donation is taken directly from your salary before Income Tax is deducted. Because you give from your gross pay, the donation costs you less while we receive the full amount.

Donations are taken after National Insurance contributions but before Income Tax is calculated.

For a £20 donation:

  • A basic-rate taxpayer gives £20 but only £16 is taken from their take-home pay
  • A higher-rate taxpayer gives £20 but only £12 is taken from their take-home pay
  • An additional-rate taxpayer gives £20 but only £11 is taken from their take-home pay

Support Bank Workers Charity through your workplace

Most banks, pension providers and unions already offer Payroll Giving schemes. If your employer has one in place, you may be able to start straight away by letting your HR or payroll team know how much you’d like to donate.

If Payroll Giving isn’t currently available, you can ask your employer about setting it up. It’s straightforward for organisations to introduce and shows a clear commitment to supporting employees and the wider banking community.

How to get started

Check with your HR or payroll team
Ask whether your employer already offers a Payroll Giving scheme.

Choose Bank Workers Charity
If a scheme is in place, select Bank Workers Charity as your chosen cause and decide how much you’d like to give each payday.

Please note we may be listed under our registered charity name Bankers Benevolent Fund (charity number 313080).

Your donations begin automatically
Your gift will be taken from your salary before tax and passed directly to us. You can amend or cancel your donation at any time.

Make a lasting difference

Regular donations help us plan ahead and respond quickly when members of the banking community need support. Even small amounts given consistently can have a meaningful impact over time.

We’re happy to help you check whether Payroll Giving is available at your organisation or provide information to support internal promotion.
