Jane’s story

How Jane found the right support to help take care of her own mental and physical health.

Helping Jane feel happy in her own home

Jane was signed off from her banking role for a year, due to a severe mental health illness. When her sick pay ended, she had nothing to fall back on, living in poor conditions that affected her mental and physical health.

That’s when Jane took control. She got in touch to see how we could help.

We visited her home to establish what benefits she might be entitled to, helping Jane apply for multiple claims. From Universal Credit (UC) to help with living expenses, to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Council Tax Reduction.

Jane also received support with home adaptations, including a new front door and suitable bathroom.

These were all designed to help lighten Jane’s financial load and improve security, so she could focus on getting better. Now, Jane feels safer and settled in her own home.

The Bank Workers Charity has enabled me to do things for myself again. Now, I can be cosy, warm and safe at home
