Shirley’s story

How Shirley found the right support to navigate her grief and find her way back to work.

From loss, to new beginnings

Shirley had been a bank worker for five years when her father sadly passed away. Her HR team were kind and supportive, but socialising and staying motivated became too overwhelming, and Shirley was signed off on sick leave.

Despite taking the time to grieve, and seeking help from her GP, the sadness became too much. She needed more support, so eventually gave us a call to talk things through. Together, we agreed on a plan for counselling to help process her feelings.

Through eight private, personalised sessions, Shirley found positive ways to move on, whilst keeping her father’s memory alive. Her wellbeing is now on the mend, and she’s been able to get back to work.

I'm most grateful for the Bank Workers Charity's help, with empathy and sincerity
